Chevron Lesson Planner

As we gear up for the new academic school year, it's such a great thing to be prepared! I can't even tell you how many "bad dreams" I have of the first day of school and not knowing what I am doing that day! It's crazy, but true. Here is a lesson planner that will be sure to help you...and me get ready for the next school year! You can find the link to the CleverlyScience store here!

Graphing Foldable!

Graphing has become an integral part of our curriculum that isn't going anywhere any time soon. In my 7th and 8th grade science class, the students almost always have to create a graph after they have collected their data. But you know what??? It seems as if the year goes on, they forget more and more how to do it CORRECTLY! As a quick fix for this predicament, I have them past this foldable in their science composition notebooks so that they don't forget how to do it, and so they can easily flip back to it to look at the steps. The steps may be modified in any way of course, especially if you teach it differently. Here is a link to my store, CleverlyScience.

Here are some of my student's examples:

The steps for making graphs are on the inside flaps.

Periodic table of the elements foldable!

So it gets to that time of the year for us to teach the periodic table, elements, atoms, etc... I get so bored with the same old periodic table handout. Because of this, I created this foldable! The way I see it, at least they get to personalize this one and make it their own! Here's another one of my foldables concerning the periodic table. Students get to customize this one! You can find a link to my store here.

Imagine how great it looks all colored...?? Images will be uploaded soon! I'm looking for some great examples!

What are the Reasons for the Seasons???

Has it ever happened to you where your wonderful students tell you winter happens because the Earth is further away from the sun than it is in the summer? Well, this happens a lot to me! This is a common misconception students have about the seasons that drives me nuts! In order for students to acknowledge this, I created a foldable that is three dimensional. It shows all the four locations of the Earth the same distance from the sun, with detail to the axis. Teachers can use this through the solstice and equinox explanations using dates to pinpoint the beginning/ending of the seasons, and also by using just the four seasons. Check it out here!

It's quite a bit of folding, but...

In the end, it's a pretty nifty model. There's another "Earth" under that last flap.

Welcome to Cleverly Science!

I am a 7th and 8th grade teacher that teaches both life science and earth science at the same time! As the new school year is fast approaching, I will be trying to post my most inspiring activities to share with everyone. But first, organization is a must! I created my second annual chevron calendar filled with colorful backgrounds and a nifty "to-do" list on the side. Check out the free month of September and be sure to visit my store "Cleverly Science" at tpt!

All months are vibrantly colored and print out with great quality! Enjoy!
